Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter is a low-barrier emergency shelter for women over the age of 18. The program offers a hot meal, a shower, a place to stay off of the streets, access to a case manager and a work program. Intake begins at 7 pm each night, and the shelter closes at 7 am the next morning.
Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter is a low-barrier emergency shelter for women over the age of 18 who are in urgent need of housing, food or case management. Shelter staff serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to clients. Case management services at the shelter include assistance with life skills, employment, hygiene issues, drug rehab and financial management. Two rehab specialists and a program manager during the day are available to work directly with clients.
Intake: Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter is a 100-bed, low-barrier emergency facility. All clients are self-referred, and beds are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Intake begins at 7 pm (women often start lining up by 6:15 pm). Preferences for beds given to women who stayed the previous night. Cots provided for women who do not obtain bed. Harriet Tubman will call shelter Hotline and find space for women who do not obtain beds or cots. Dinner provided. Residents must leave by 7 am. Shelter can be reached by bus (70, 71, 79). The Shelter Hotline van also picks up women from Sacred Heart Catholic Church (16th and Park, NW) at 6:30 pm at the end of Sacred Heart's dinner program.
